CRYPDEKS

Guide

How to use the CRYPDEKS cockpit. This page explains each area from top to bottom, the way you see it in the cockpit.

Show the intro again

1. Getting started

After logging in you land directly in the cockpit. Before you rely on it, set three things. You find them on the right in the “Settings” card.

I trade with
Choose “A prop firm” if you trade a prop firm account, or “My own account” if you trade your own money. This decides how the cockpit talks to you (restriction or news window).
Time zone
The default is your device’s time zone. All times in the cockpit follow it.
Minutes before and after an event
How long the cockpit warns you around a major event. More in section 5.

All settings are saved in your account and apply on every device you log in on.

2. The status banner

The big banner at the top answers the most important question: is now a good moment for a trade? A countdown runs next to it.

CLEAR (green)
No major event nearby. The countdown shows how long until the next window.
CAUTION (yellow)
A window starts in less than 30 minutes. Time to check open positions.
LOCKED or NEWS (red)
The window is running. With a prop firm: don’t open or modify anything. With your own account: sharp moves, wide spreads and slippage are possible.
WEEKEND (blue)
The forex market is closed. The countdown runs until the open on Sunday evening (17:00 New York time).
HOLIDAY (blue)
The market is closed for Christmas or New Year.
OFFLINE (blue)
The events could not be loaded. Sessions, holidays and the lot calculator still work.

The status band holds an orb with a number from 0 to 100: the liquidity of all markets combined. The fuller the orb, the more is being traded right now. Below it you see the level (high, medium, low, very low) and a short recommendation.

All markets
Currencies, stock indices from the US, Europe and Asia, commodities and crypto. Each market counts with a fixed share.
Partly live
Currencies and crypto are measured (trading volume of the last 60 minutes). Indices and commodities follow their usual daily pattern.
News
Shortly before an important event the value drops, afterwards it rises. How much depends on the currency of the event.
Line
The solid part shows how the day went so far, the dashed part what to expect. On weekends only crypto counts.

The number is a guide across all markets. A single market can differ, for example US indices are still active in the evening when the orb is already falling.

The orb follows the markets you trade: with at least 10 trades in your journal over the last 90 days, your markets count more and the heading reads “Liquidity · your markets”. With fewer trades it uses the markets from your daily bias. In the settings, switch “Liquidity orb” back to “All markets”.

The “Markets” button below the orb opens six bars, one per market. A green dot means the value is measured. Without a dot it is the usual daily pattern. Before key events the number dips briefly, afterwards it rises.

3. Sessions and timeline

Below the banner are four clocks for Sydney, Tokyo, London and New York. Each shows whether the session is open, how far it has progressed and how long until it closes or opens. Daylight saving time is handled automatically.

The clocks and the bars show the forex sessions, not the opening of the stock exchanges. A session is the time when banks and traders in a region usually trade. The stock exchange in the same city sometimes opens later:

Sydney
Forex session 07:00 to 16:00 local time. The exchange (ASX) opens at 10:00.
Tokyo
Forex session 09:00 to 18:00 local time. The exchange opens at 09:00.
London
Forex session 08:00 to 17:00 local time. The exchange opens at 08:00.
New York
Forex session 08:00 to 17:00 local time. The exchange (NYSE) opens at 09:30.

For currencies and gold the session matters; for indices such as US30, NAS100 or DAX it is the exchange opening. The next exchange openings are shown in your time in the line below the timeline. The session times are a common rule of thumb, not an official schedule: the forex market runs continuously from Sunday evening to Friday evening.

The “Forex sessions today” card shows the same day as a timeline from 0 to 24 h. The white line is “now”. Red stripes are your restriction or news windows. When London and New York are open at the same time, “LONDON + NEW YORK” appears at the top right: that is the time with the most volume.

4. Key events

The “Key events” card shows the economic calendar. Switch between WEEK and MONTH at the top right.

WEEK
All events from Monday to Sunday, sorted by day. Use the arrows to go one week back or forward, “THIS WEEK” jumps back. Past events stay visible, dimmed.
MONTH
A calendar for the whole month. A red number stands for high-impact events on that day, a yellow one for medium, a blue dot for a holiday. Tap a day to see its events.

Each event shows time, currency, name, the forecast and the previous value. On the far right you see how long is left.

You decide which events you see in the settings: “Impact” (red only, or yellow too) and “Currencies” (only the ones you trade). The “Next event” card on the right always shows the next matching event with a countdown and the instruments it usually moves.

Events for coming weeks are only entered as far as they are already fixed. Central bank speeches are often scheduled at short notice and then only appear in the current week.

In the settings you can also show low-importance events under “Importance”. They are display only: they trigger no restriction, no news window and no notification.

5. Restrictions and news windows: the minutes before and after an event

Prices move sharply around major events. Many prop firms therefore prohibit trading shortly before and after. The cockpit puts a time window around each event. You set its size with two numbers:

Minutes before event
The window starts this many minutes before the event.
Minutes after event
It ends this many minutes after the event.

ExampleUS inflation (CPI) is released at 14:30. With the setting 2 and 2 the window runs from 14:28 to 14:32. During that time the banner is red. From 13:58 it shows yellow “CAUTION” with a countdown to 14:28. At 14:32 it switches back to green.

With a prop firm
Set the minutes as stated in your firm’s rules. The default is 2 and 2. Rules differ by firm and account type, so check there.
With your own account
You decide. 2 minutes is tight. If you want to skip the first violent moves entirely, set for example 5 before and 15 after.

6. Marking events: which events get a window?

Not every event matters equally to you. That is why each event has a coloured label you can tap. Your choice automatically applies to all future events with the same currency and name: once you set “USD CPI m/m”, it stays that way for every later CPI release.

If you trade with a prop firm:

RESTRICTED? (yellow)
Not set yet. Counts as restricted to be safe.
RESTRICTED (red)
You confirmed: your firm restricts this event.
NOT RESTRICTED (green)
Your firm doesn’t restrict it. No window, the banner ignores the event.

If you trade your own account:

AVOID (red)
The event gets a news window. All red-folder events are set to AVOID automatically.
IGNORE (green)
No window. One tap sets an event to IGNORE, another tap sets it back to AVOID.
NEWS (yellow)
Yellow events only: the default, counts as a news window. Tapping moves on to AVOID and IGNORE.

7. Lot calculator

The lot calculator tells you how large your position may be so that a stop loss costs you exactly the amount you want to risk.

Account currency
The currency your account is held in. All results are shown in this currency.
Balance
Your current account balance.
Risk
Use the two buttons to choose: as a percentage of the balance (e.g. 1) or as a fixed amount (e.g. 500).
Instrument
What you trade: forex majors and crosses, gold, silver, indices, bitcoin, ethereum and oil.
Stop loss as distance
In pips for forex. For all other instruments the distance in price, e.g. 5 on gold for 5 dollars.
Stop loss as prices
You enter the entry price and the stop loss price; the cockpit works out the distance.
Take profit
Optional. If you enter it, you see the profit at target and the reward-to-risk ratio.

ExampleAccount USD 100,000, risk 1%, EURUSD, stop loss 20 pips. Result: 5.00 lots. Your risk is USD 1,000.

Under “Advanced” you set what differs from broker to broker. The cockpit remembers these values.

Contract size
How much one lot contains. Common values are preset: forex 100,000, gold 100 oz, indices and crypto 1, oil 100. Check the value once in your trading platform, especially for indices, oil and crypto.
Smallest lot step
0.01, 0.1 or 1. The lot size is always rounded down to this step so that you never risk more than planned.
Commission per lot
What your broker charges per lot for opening and closing together. It counts towards the risk.
Spread
Added to the stop distance. This makes the lot size slightly smaller.
Leverage
If you enter it (e.g. 30), the cockpit shows the required margin.
Conversion
Only appears when the instrument is quoted in a different currency than your account. The European Central Bank daily rate is used. It is not a live rate; the difference is usually below one percent. For a more precise result, enter the current rate yourself.

ExampleAccount in EUR, GER40, entry 20,000, stop 19,950, target 20,100, commission EUR 2 per lot. Result at EUR 1,000 risk: 19.23 lots, reward to risk 1 : 2.

The calculator is an aid and does not replace a look at your trading platform. Verify the lot size there the first time before relying on it.

Plugin for MetaTrader 5 (Pro): with “CRYPDEKS Lot Calculator” you calculate the lot size right in the chart. Download the installer under “Account” in the section “MetaTrader plugin”, for Windows or Mac. It copies the plugin into MetaTrader and connects it to your account through the browser. You only ever enter a password in the browser.

Lines in the chart
Drag the stop-loss and target lines where you want them. The plugin calculates the lot size from your risk (percent or amount) and always rounds down.
Opening an order
Two clicks: choose, then confirm. That way you never open an order by accident.
Blocks
If a restriction is running in CRYPDEKS or the rule guard is on stop, the plugin opens no order and tells you why.
Journal
The plugin does not add trades to the journal. You enter trades in the journal or bring them in there via “Load trades”.

“Algo Trading” must be switched on in MetaTrader, in the toolbar and for the plugin itself. Check your first order on a demo account.

8. Daily bias and weekly review

The daily bias helps you record your view and check it honestly later.

You choose which markets appear there in the settings under “Markets for the bias”. The weekly review on the right sums up how often you were right this week or last week, and on which market you did best.

9. Rule guard

The rule guard shows how much room your account has left and tells you when you are done for the day. It works with the trades in your journal.

Daily loss
How much you may still lose today before the daily limit is reached. Profits from the same day increase the room.
Max loss
How far your balance still is from the loss limit.
Profit target
How much is missing to reach the target.
Your own rules
Under “Your own rules” you set the maximum number of trades per day and after how many losses in a row you stop.
Time-based notices
Rollover (the daily change in the forex market, spreads widen sharply for a moment), triple swap on Wednesday and the market close on Friday. Each notice can be switched off separately.

You enter the limits in percent once for the account in the journal (edit account: daily loss, max loss, profit target). If you have several accounts, choose at the top of the card which one is watched.

ExampleAccount with 100,000 and 5% daily loss: the limit is 5,000. After two losses totalling 4,100 the card shows “900 left” and “CAUTION”.

Important: only closed trades recorded in the journal are counted. The rule guard cannot see open positions. Some firms calculate daily loss or drawdown differently, for example trailing or in another time zone. Your firm’s dashboard always takes precedence.

10. Trading journal

The journal is where you record your trades and see what works. Open it from the cockpit at the top right via “Journal”, and return via “Cockpit”.

Add an account
First you add an account: for example your challenge at a prop firm or your own account at a broker. Enter the starting capital and, if you like, the profit target, maximum total loss and maximum daily loss in percent.
Add a trade
Instrument, side and entry time are required. The more you enter (risk, result, prices), the more stats you get. Enter losses with a minus. Set a trade that is still running to “Open” and add the result later.
Review a trade
Tap a trade to edit it: setup, mistakes, whether you followed your plan, a rating from 1 to 5 and what you learn from it.
Load trades from a file
Instead of typing in every trade, upload your trade history via “Load trades” and then “From file”: the report from MetaTrader 4 or 5 as HTML, or a CSV file from your prop firm or broker. Before importing you see a preview with the number of trades and the total. Trades that are already in the journal are not added twice. The result is stored net, i.e. profit minus commission and swap. No file contains the risk, so it is estimated from the stop loss.
Screenshots
In a trade’s form you can add up to four images: drop them in, choose them or paste with Ctrl+V. From the first image of a TradingView chart, instrument, side, entry, stop and target are read and filled in. Check the values before you save.
Viewing images
Click an image to open it large. Use the mouse wheel, arrow keys or swipe to flip through the images. Click the image or press plus to zoom in; a zoomed image can be dragged. Esc closes.

The journal has four views:

OVERVIEW
Balance, equity curve, your rules as bars (profit target and limits) and all stats such as win rate, profit factor and expectancy.
TRADES
All trades in the selection, newest first.
ANALYSIS
At the top you see which session and which weekday work best and worst for you. Only groups with at least 5 trades are counted, so that a single good day does not distort the picture. Below are the results by session, weekday, instrument, setup and side, plus your most common mistakes.
FINANCES
Enter challenge fees, payouts, refunds and other costs here. You see what is left in the end, by year and by account, and can export the entries as a CSV file for Excel or your tax advisor. Results from trading on your own accounts are not included there. Part of Pro.
CALENDAR
Profit and loss per day in a monthly calendar. Tap a day to see its trades.

R and RRR: 1R is the amount you risk on a trade. A trade with +2R won twice your risk. The journal calculates the planned RRR from entry, stop loss and take profit, and the realized one from result divided by risk.

The bars for profit target and limits are calculated from the starting capital. Some firms calculate differently, for example from the high-water mark or the balance at the start of the day. Your firm’s numbers are always what counts.

The “Streaks” card in ANALYSIS shows how many trades in a row won or lost: the longest winning and losing streak with amount and dates, the current streak, the average length and how often each streak occurred. It also shows how often the next trade won after two or more losses in a row.

In the CALENDAR each week shows its total on the right (on a phone as a row below). ANALYSIS also has three tables: by holding time, whether you traded to plan, and what your mistakes cost, the most expensive first. In the OVERVIEW the curve shows date, balance and result when you hover over it or tap it.

The TRADES list has a search and filters at the top: by market, side (long or short) and result, plus sorting, for example biggest loss first. Below you see how many trades match and what they made in total. The first 50 trades are shown; “Load more” brings the next ones.

ANALYSIS has two tabs. “Overview” shows sessions, weekdays, hours, setups and mistakes. “Markets” compares every market you traded: best and weakest market, win rate, avg R, profit factor (wins divided by losses, above 1 is in profit), avg win and avg loss, the result split by long and short, the best session and the average duration. A market is only rated from 5 trades.

The journal remembers per device which account you chose last. Under “Period” you can also pick a single year. Key figures, curve and the big number at the top follow that choice.

11. Notifications

With Pro, CRYPDEKS can warn you even when the page is not open. Turn it on in the cockpit under “Settings”, at “Notifications”. The browser then asks for permission once.

Warning
A message before a restriction or news window starts. You choose 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes ahead. Only events that have a window for you count (see section 6).
Morning summary
Once a day, today’s key events at a time you choose. Can be turned off.
Send test
Sends a sample message to your devices right away, so you can see that everything arrives.

12. Account and subscription

Under “Account” at the top right you see your status, subscribe or manage your subscription. That is also where you log out.

After it ends
Without a subscription you keep using the free version. Your settings and your journal stay saved and are back immediately with Pro.

13. Using it like an app on your phone

CRYPDEKS runs in the browser. You can add it to your home screen like an app:

On your phone you can collapse any panel: the minus at the top right closes it, a tap on the slim row opens it again. The cockpit remembers this on this device. Use the arrows next to it to change the order.

14. Important notes

Found a bug or have an idea? In the cockpit, the journal and on the account page there is a “Feedback” button at the bottom right. There you send us a bug, a suggestion or a question in two steps. You can also reach us at office@crypdeks.com.
